MEINPC | Mathematics and Engineering: New Critical Viewpoints (XVI-XX Centuries)

Description:
The project aims to go-in-depth and to develop a new viewpoint on mathematics and engineering in society .
It focus the Spanish context, with all its complexity, and its relationship with the European and American context. The “scientific” engineering was a process of convergence and fusion of the mathematical tradition and the artisan, mechanical or building practices. Research objectives are: A) the development of mathematics in the Iberian Peninsula in the XVI century; the civil and military training institutions; the “mathematical courses” from the XVII to XIX century. B) Engineering and the scientific and technical heritage; the technological and scientific collections at technical schools and science museums; the professional and scientific engineering; engineering and sustainability: the case of solar energy in different countries; engineering and gender: pioneered experiences, mainly in Spain; comparative viewpoints from Europe and America.
The work would have relevant impact in the sense of the applied history and science and technological education .
